A304MC Pass it on – Mentoring session 1 Preparation
Next week we have our first mentoring session and so because we are all a bit nervous we have decided to sit down and make a proper lesson plan in order to make sure we are always doing something and therefore are less nervous.
* Short introduction to us.
In order for our group to get to know each other and for us to get to know their names we have devised an icebreaker which will do both. We will go around the room and ask them to come up with an adjective to say before their name that begins with the same letter, for example Giggling Gee, Juicy Jess etc. and of course we will do the same. This will make it easier to remember names.
We will explain the basics with health and safety in regards to lights, cables, food and drink etc but also with phones, bags and coats. Hopefully a few will have not remembered these rules already so they will get them moving.
We will ask those who think they can set up talk back to direct another group to set up doing only as they are told. This will get both sides learning and communicating with each other.
Going through the roles that are in the studio and gallery asking them to name them.
Getting them to set up and get into roles, with us explaining personally what each role does, letting them practice and then switching around.
*Pack Down & Questions
Packing down in time, and feedback for the group and answering any questions they may have.
Now that we have a plan I feel less nervous and more confident about going in and getting stuck in.
