FMP: Research – Experimental Shorts
‘Experimental films are films that push the boundaries of conventional film making. The experimental aspect could be new and different ways of working the camera, using lighting, playing with audio effects, scripting or even acting. Creating an experimental film is a rewarding processes and can be a fun endeavour for any film maker no matter how long they have been in the business.’
In order to gain a sense of what it is to be experimental as there is no right or wrong I have chosen to watch some experimental shorts from a useful website I have found.
These shorts are all very quirky and unconventional, a lot of them being animation, stop motion, and a series of photographs and so it leads me to believe that my film offers something new and innovative being a short experimental documentary. Although it is a scary thought to lend a hand and or even delve into a project that is new to you and possible to others, it fills me with confidence that I am making something unusual, unexpected and different. I will continue to watch experimental shorts as they are made in order to gain new ideas and explore my options further.
I have also found this website which shows a bigger range of experimental shorts within all categories:
I found this to be a very interesting watch as it is an experimental documentary.
